innatism, Rosmini thinks that "names were in antiquity imposed over things not because of an arbitrary decision, but with reason" (Rosmini 1836: [section] 151).
Agreeing with John Locke and the Ideologues, Leopardi argued against
innatism. Unlike the Ideologues, however, who after rejecting
innatism and abolishing metaphysics turned to deal with the social aspect of the human being, for Leopardi, the attempt to abolish metaphysics per se did not imply a direct involvement in social problems.
