They have been documented in domestic chickens, (7,26,27) 3 budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus), (11,28) a
Java sparrow (Lonchura oryzivora), (29) a common mynah bird (Acridotheres tristis), (1) a finch, (30) a burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia), (16) a canary (Serinus canarius), (31) and a scarlet macaw (Ara macao) (12) (Table 1).
These species include serpent eagle, reticulated phyton, Philippine long-tailed macaque, crested myna, monitor lizard, grass owl, crested hawk, brahminy kite, fish sea eagle and
java sparrow made pets by animal lovers.
Other species include Canary, Japanese Bantham, Button Quail, Waxbill, Wagtail, Californian Quail, BulBul, Silver Bill, Diamond Dove, Crested Society and
Java sparrow among others.
In previous studies,
Java Sparrow (Padda oryzivora) selected safflower seeds that were deeper (Van der Meij and Bout 2000), and Northern Cardinal selected sunflower seeds that were shorter, but thinner (Willson 1972).
(3,6) Thymomas are rarely reported in avian species and have only been documented in an African grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus), a finch (unspecified species), domestic chickens, budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus), a
Java sparrow (Lonchura oryzivora), a Senegal parrot (Poicephalus senegalus), a burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia), a red-tail common mynah bird (Acridotheres tristis), and a scarlet macaw (Ara macao).
Single bird case reports are mainly of benign thymomas without metastasis, as described in a
Java sparrow (Padda oryzivora), (8) an African grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus), (9) a burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia), (10) a Senegal parrot (Poicephalus senegalus), (11) and a common myna (Acridotheres tristis).
Abstract: A 4-year-old
Java sparrow (Lonchura oryzivora) was diagnosed with thymic lymphoma based on the results of histopathologic evaluation and immunohistochemical staining of a Tru-cut biopsy sample.
Thymomas are rarely reported in avian species and have only been documented in an African grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus), (1) a finch (unspecified species), (6) domestic chickens, (7,8) a budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus), (9) and a
Java sparrow (Padda oryzivora).
