Mobile herbivorous category (HOVH) had the lowest abundance in the southeast region compared with the North and Northeast Brazil, and exhibited the highest biomass, due to the presence of Acanthurus chirurgus and
Kyphosus spp.
Group 4 was composed of two pelagic species,
Kyphosus sectatrix (Linnaeus, 1758) and Mugil curema Valenciennes, 1836, occurring only on rede-alta, whereas group 5 was formed by a single species, Atlantoraja castelnaui (Miranda-Ribeiro, 1907), caught solely on the linguadeira (Table 1).

Kyphosus sectatrix (L.) in two marine reserves in the Soufriere Marine Management Area, St Lucia, West Indies," Journal ofFish Biology, vol.
Species of
Kyphosus are difficult to identify and a recent family revision by Knudsen & Clements (2013) has revealed that in addition to the Bermuda Chub,
Kyphosus sectatrix, two other chubs occur in Bermuda, both with unfamiliar names.
In addition to the influence of increasing seawater temperatures, the effect of herbivorous fish, such as the brown chub
Kyphosus bigibbus Lacepede and the mottled spinefoot Siganus fuscescens (Houttuyn), is suspected to cause a negative effect; bite marks have been observed on algal thalli, resulting in the loss of biomass.

This appears to be the case for some unusually large juveniles (e.g., Hippocampus spp., Mulloidichthys martinicus,

Individual smallwing flyingfish, Oxyporhamphus micropterus; Bermuda chub,
Kyphosus sectatrix; and green razorfish, Hemipteronotus splendens, were observed only once.
