medical intelligence

That category of intelligence resulting from collection, evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of foreign medical, bio-scientific, and environmental information that is of interest to strategic planning and to military medical planning and operations for the conservation of the fighting strength of friendly forces and the formation of assessments of foreign medical capabilities in both military and civilian sectors. Also called MEDINT. See also intelligence.

Medical intelligence derived from the narrative dictation using CLU can then be sent to the clinical data repository and linked to multiple other sources of data (e.g., laboratory, pathology, imaging and other diagnostic services).
One practicing physician who also is a student of medical intelligence has noted, "While much of clinical medicine is firmly grounded in basic science research, there is a substantial practical component to medical practice which cannot be found in any textbook, and is instead passed down from attending physicians to resident physicians to medical students."
