When evaluating regional geographic delineations of barren-ground caribou herds (i.e., Ahiak, Bathurst, Beverly, Lorillard, Wager Bay and
Melville Peninsula), we found a great deal of uncertainty in relation to caribou on KWI (GN, 2011; NPC, 2016a).
The project is located proximal to a natural deep water harbour on the coast of the
Melville Peninsula in Nunavut, Canada giving it many logistical advantages.

Melville Peninsula in Nunavut, Canada.
This will again depend on the geological environment, but the

Their first winter, 1821-22, was at Winter Island off
Melville Peninsula. Their first full summer allowed them to discover the aptly named Fury and Hecla Strait.
Figure 4, for instance, shows how several GPS-recorded trails going to or coming from the island of Saglarjuk (Amherst Island) merge at one particular spot on the coast of the
Melville Peninsula, a small hill named Qakkiaq (which fittingly means "landing place").
