matronalis into a relatively undisturbed natural community dominated by
Muhlenbergia montana.
Caveat: This grass (Nassella tenuissima) can be invasive in some areas; if you live near parks or wild land, substitute Atlas fescue (Festuca mairei), autumn moor grass (Sesleria autumnalis), blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis), or pink muhly (
Muhlenbergia capillaris).
The herbaceous plants in this community include Carex spp., sedges; Elymus canadensis, Canada wild rye; Ageratina altissima, white snakeroot;
Muhlenbergia spp., muhly grasses; Sanicula canadensis, Canada sanicle; and Viola sororia, sister violet.
Strickland (1983) described this phenomenon in grasses from North Amerita (Oryzopsis hymenoides, Festuca idahoensis, Stipa spp.,
Muhlenbergia torreyii, Agropyron spicatum and A.
Species richness was greatest in the native
Muhlenbergia habitat (three species) and least in the non-native King Ranch bluestem habitat (one species).
Muhlenbergia, Solanum, Gnaphalium y Mammillaria (Cuadro 3).
Common grasses included blue grama, western wheatgrass, tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea), crested wheatgrass (Agropyron cristatum), mountain muhly (
Muhlenbergia montana), Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis), dropseed (Sporobolus) , and squirrel tail (Sitanion hystrix).
