The more likely scenario is that Google will release a lightweight Android TV box with some supplemental gaming features, much like the Nexus Player that launched in 2014.
Roll out will take place in phases alongside Pixel C and Nexus Player. Android has also been working closely with its partners, and by the end of this year, hardware makers including Essential, General Mobile, HMD Global Home of Nokia Phones, Huawei, HTC, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, OnePlus, Samsung, Sharp and Sony are scheduled to launch or upgrade devices to Android 8.0 Oreo.
While the Pixel and Nexus 5X/6P have begun carrier testing of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), Pixel C and Nexus Player are also expected to enter the bandwagon.
Official Google devices that have been getting developer preview releases (and therefore will be the first devices to receive this public release) are the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P from 2015, the Nexus Player, and of course the three Pixels: Pixel, Pixel XL, and Pixel C.
The update is now available for the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9 and Nexus Player. You can also download the factory images from Google's developer site.
