Its precursor was object linking and embedding (OLE), and it is to be replaced with the Microsoft.NET framework.
With OPC (Object Linking and Embedding for Process Control) connectivity, the software required to link disparate machines is significantly less costly and time consuming, giving operations managers the ability to review the status of all OPC compliant equipment from one workstation.
To accomplish that, we're applying a technology called OLE (object linking and embedding).
