Al Naboodah Group Enterprises (ANGE), one of the UAE's leading conglomerates, partnered with UK bus manufacturer Optare to launch the RTA Solo into service in the UAE.
Built by Optare in Sherburn, near Leeds in the United Kingdom, the forward-wheel drive 'RTA Solo' with compact, low-floor and bespoke configuration can carry 32 passengers down narrow side streets in Dubai that were previously unserviced by public transport.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the launch of 94 fuel-efficient and low-carbon emission medium-sized buses of from the UK's Optare brand, the first-of-its-kind in the UAE.
According to the RTA, the British-manufactured Optare buses can accommodate 32-seated passengers and 9 standees while 8 seats were fitted with adjustable safety belts and one seat is designated for "people of determination." The buses are made of semi-stainless-steel body, and the design of front wheels creates more room for riders.
Robert Mason, managing director for Yorkshire Tiger, said: "At about 08.47am yesterday a Solo Optare suffered a fire at Stephen Close in Northowram.
The new MetroCity and Solo vehicles, each with a range of up to 190 miles per full charge and with a capacity to carry between 28 and 44 passengers, will be built by UK bus manufacturer Optare.
British bus manufacturer Optare and global provider of wireless charging solutions Aircharge have announced the deployment of the Aircharge mobile phone wireless charging system on Optare's bus models, including top of the range double decker Metrodecker and versatile midi-bus Versa, the companies said.
The bid team includes Caerphilly County Borough Council, the Welsh Government, bus manufacturer Optare and power companies.
