According to the statement, Pakistan and Russia share a common position on the prevention of arms race in
outer space and work collectively in various international fora towards that goal.
"We hope that countries which have in the past strongly condemned demonstration of similar capabilities by others will be prepared to work towards developing international instruments to prevent military threats relating to
outer space.
The treaty, first adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in December 19 1966, provides the basic framework on international space law - such as the exploration and use of
outer space in the interest of all countries.
