The robustness of the method was also evaluated by performing small variations in instrumental variables ([+ or -]2 nm in excitation/emission wavelengths; [+ or -]10 V in photomultiplier tube) and chemical variables ([+ or -]5% variation in terbium, buffer, and SDS concentrations).
We designed and built a customized apparatus with a walk-in dark chamber and photomultiplier tube to measure biophoton emission.

The Computer System for the Super-Kamiokande collects, stores, and analyzes the massive amount of neutrino observation data from the approximately 13,000 photomultiplier tubes in the Super-Kamiokande detector.
[3] Nonstandard abbreviations: LED, light emitting diode; PMT, photomultiplier tube; [T.sub.m], melting temperature; Cq, quantification cycle.
In Faraday cage these pulses are detected by a photomultiplier tube. The PMT output signal, after being amplified, is registered using the oscilloscope in the form of time course (temporal sequence of discrete negative pulses having the rise-times of few nanoseconds).
Mixture of 50 AuL of 2.0 x10-3 moL L-1 luminol, 50 AuL of 5.0 x10-3 mol L-1 Ag NPs, 30 AuL sample solution and 60 AuL of 1.0 x10-2 mol L-1 potassium ferricyanide was aspirated into the holding coil through the eight-way injection valve at a flow rate of 120 AuL s-1 and then the mixed solution was flushed continuously into the flowthrough cell located in front of detection cell of the photomultiplier tube (PMT).
The photomultiplier tube converts the light into an electrical signal, and the shape of the electrical pulse reveals which layer is flashing, and thus which type of radiation was detected.
We also investigated placing an external gamma-ray detector just outside the dewar next to the photomultiplier tube (PMT)s to both monitor external rates and hopefully use the data from this detector to normalize the trapping data to minimize these systematic shifts in the backgrounds.
Both models are equipped with three detectors, including a photomultiplier tube for the UV-Vis region, and InGaAs and PbS detectors for the NIR region.
A photomultiplier tube then detects the fluorescence emission with extreme sensitivity.
