After fixation in Bouin's solution the sample was washed in 70 % alcohol in order to remove
picric acid in tissues.
Pieces of kidney of about 3mm3 were cut with sharp cutter and immediately shifted to Bouin's fixative (combination of 70 ml of supernatant of water saturated
Picric acid, 25 ml of formalin and 5ml of glacial acetate) for fixation for 48 hours and subsequently preserved in ethanol (70%).
For microstructural test the samples were etched in Vilella reagent (1 gr
picric acid + 10 ml HCl 100 ml Ethanol).
Oves, Synthesis, characterization, spectrophotometric, structural and antimicrobial studies of the newly charge transfer complex of p-phenylenediamine with I acceptor
picric acid, Spectrochim.
The ovaries were preserved in Bouin's fluid for 12 h, followed by immersion in 70% ethanol saturated with lithium carbonate to remove the excess
picric acid.
For histological analysis, samples were fixed in paraformaldehyde (diluted at a 1:9 ratio with 96% ethanol), and for immunohistochemistry, in Bouin's solution (71% saturated
picric acid, 24% formaldehyde, 5% acetic acid).
Staining was performed using 0.1 % solution of Picrosirius red in a saturated aqueous solution of
picric acid for one hour at room temperature (18 [degrees]C; Junqueira et al., 1979).
Serum was stored at -20[degrees]C for future analysis of alanine aminotransferase (ALT; Reitman-Frankel colorimetric method), aspartate aminotransferase (AST; Reitman-Frankel colorimetric method), [gamma]-glutamyl transferase (GGT; Szasz method), urea N (urease method), creatinine (
picric acid colorimetric method), and uric acid (phosphotungstic acid colorimetric method), using an automated chemistry analyzer (Hitachi 7080, Beijing CIC Clinical Laboratory, Beijing, China).
The munitions freighter, built in England in 1899 and purchased by the French shipping firm Compagnie Generate Transatlantique, carried 2,300 tons of wet and dry
picric acid, 200 tons of TNT, 10 tons of gun cotton, and 35 tons of benzol.
