Food crops (cotton, maize, bean and sesame) are grown intercropped with
pigeon pea, by planting the cotton or bean in strips alternating with rows of the other crops, and, depending on the resources of each farmer, fertilised with cattle manure.
It turned out to be a thick stew of kadyos (
