Pulmonary barotrauma is the most severe form but is relatively rare and occurs due to the expanding gases during ascent.
Cerebral air embolism is a rare complication that can be induced by pulmonary barotrauma, trauma of the chest or head, and iatrogenic causes such as invasive procedures or surgery [4].
Air embolism, the entry of gas into the vascular system, could be an iatrogenic problem following invasive procedures, such as cardiac surgery and neurosurgery, percutaneous biopsies, or central vascular catheterization, or following accidental trauma, such as chest trauma or pulmonary barotrauma in diving operations.
