Q fever
n. An infectious disease of humans characterized by fever, malaise, muscle pain, and sometimes chronic endocarditis, caused by a bacterium (Coxiella burnetii) that infects many animal species. It is transmitted to humans chiefly by inhalation of contaminated air from infected domestic animals, as on farms.
