"I am in the final stages of completing my Duke of Edinburgh Gold award and my
Queen's Scout award.
On April 28, chief scout Bear Grylls and Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, honoured more than 300 scouts from across the country with the
Queen's Scout award.
"Then I got my
Queen's Scout Award and I went back to being a leader with the Abbey.
At the age of 15 Mr Castle went to senior Scouts and in 1966 was awarded the
Queen's Scout Badge and attended the St George's Day Parade in Windsor in 1967.
A number of young people and the District Commissioner Chris Storey were absent from proceedings as they were collecting awards including The
Queen's Scout Award - the highest award for young people in scouting - at the St George's Day celebrations in Windsor.
Their duties are varied and include organising and escorting all official royal visits to their counties; presenting decorations when the recipient is unable to attend an Investiture, presenting Queen's Awards for export and technology, and
Queen's Scout and Guide awards.
It was Uncle Duncan Hough, a former
Queen's Scout, who launched the New Oscott School pupil's badge bonanza.
But when John Gibson was presented with the
Queen's Scout badge in November 1962 it was an extra special achievement.
The Chief Scout and television presenter awarded the 13 young scouts at a ceremony at Windsor Castle with the
Queen's Scout Award for outstanding personal achievement.
CONGRATULATIONS to these four young people from Northumberland Scouts who all have achieved the highest award within Scouting, the
Queen's Scout Award.
And so was I, because it was the
Queen's Scout Parade at Windsor Castle.
The
Queen's Scout Award is the highest honour in Scouting and is awarded for outstanding personal achievement.
