Mechanical, engineering, and plumbing works at the museum -- which includes a main building; a main square; and the Ramses hall, featuring the 3,200-year-old statue of King
Ramses II, weighing 75 tonnes -- currently stands at 84%.
He added that the entrance hall, which houses the statue of King
Ramses II, is 92% completed, while the great staircase is nearly finished, at 98% completion.
Officials came in for similar criticism last February with claims that concrete and iron had been used during restoration of the statue of Pharaoh
Ramses II. But Ahmed Badr Al-Amari, vice director of Luxor Temple, said at the time that only authorized materials were used.
Few days ago, the ministry also announced accidentally discovering an ancient palace belonging to
Ramses II, which was attached to his temple in Abydos, Sohag.

The 18th dynasty dates back to the 13th century BC, a period noted for some of the most well-known pharaohs, including Tutankhamen and
Ramses II.
