The main items of equipment used in the experimental tests were: a 30 kW Capstone microturbine, a compact heat
recuperator, a hot water tank, a 10 TR absorption chiller, a chilled water tank, a cooling tower, and a water pumping system for the water circuits.
The fundamental technology for development of the more advanced 200 shp class turbine engine that RASPS will develop over the next 5 years has been demonstrated in UAVT's UTP50R propulsion system, a 50 hp class turbine engine with a
recuperator, high-speed gearbox, variable-pitch propeller, and Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC).
The high-temperature low pressure s-C[O.sub.2] enters the
recuperator to heat the s-C[O.sub.2] to required inlet temperature for the reactor at the high pressure side.
An additional high pressure C[O.sub.2] split flow extracted from LTR outlet to the economizer (ECO) can not only utilize flue gas heat but also increase high temperature
recuperator (HTR) effectiveness, which is a valid method employed by aforementioned studies.
The McIntosh plant could achieve considerably higher efficiency over Huntorf plant using a
recuperator to reduce exergy loss.
Destruction exergy in the
recuperator is written as follow:
Complete unlocking takes place after 21mm of travel, at which time a spring-loaded plunger (called the barrel
recuperator spring assembly) on the interior of the receiver body on the left side returns the barrel to its forward position and the empty case is extracted.
[m.sub.l] represents the canon muzzle and it suffers the shock force [F.sub.C] and recoil resistance R in the axis direction; recoil resistance R includes
recuperator force [F.sub.FJ], recoil brake force [F.sub.ZT], and constant friction [F.sub.[phi]].
