The German envoy arrived in the Iranian capital earlier today in a bid to salvage the nuclear agreement; a mission that coincided with mounting tension and
saber-rattling between Tehran and Washington.
This
saber-rattling came during a "strike drill" supervised by leader Kim Jong-un.
The Ambassador conveyed Pakistan's perspective on the regional situation, noting the restraint and resolve Pakistan had demonstrated in the face of India's
saber-rattling during the recent tensions between the two countries.
Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) responded with a protest to China on Monday, denouncing Beijing's
saber-rattling measure as provoking cross-strait and regional tensions.
Thus, it remains to be seen whether the US president is merely
saber-rattling in order to get a better deal from US trading partners, or is serious about implementing more protectionist policies.
Trump has been dishing out his own
saber-rattling rhetoric against North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un in his tweets.
Once again, these actions are reminiscent of Cold War
saber-rattling, we would emphasize that they are a complete waste of money and resources.
"Most disturbing, Moscow's nuclear
saber-rattling raises questions about Russian leaders' commitment to strategic stability, their respect for norms against the use of nuclear weapons, and whether they respect the profound caution nuclear-age leaders showed with regard to the brandishing of nuclear weapons," he said.
The diplomat spoke immediately after Netanyahu in the assembly to condemn what he called the Israeli PM's "extremely inflammatory" and "
saber-rattling" remarks.
He protested that Netanyahu, who he did not mention by name, had continued "
saber-rattling" and "threatening" against Iran.
Putin said the plan is not meant as a threat to any country and should not be seen as "
saber-rattling".
