(shrō′dĭng-ər, shrā′dĭng-ər), Erwin 1887-1961.

Austrian physicist who was a founder of the study of wave mechanics. He developed a mathematical equation that describes the wave-like behavior of subatomic particles. Schrödinger's equation was fundamental to the development of quantum mechanics.
