On rare occasions lone Short-tailed Shearwater were seen resting on the sea, and in calm conditions were prone to attack by predators.
Feeding dives were seen on a few occasions (see notes on Short-tailed Shearwater) and in May 1999, groups of 20 and 30 were seen feeding in conjunction with Crested Terns and Silver Gulls, on clupeiod fish probably being driven to the surface by Australian Salmon Arripis truttaceous.
