As we mark a hundred years since the St Mihiel offensive brought military aviation undeniably into the history of human conflict, it seems appropriate to reflect on the Foundation's purpose and future.
The division was sent to France in 1918, its most significant campaigns including St Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, and Lorraine, all in northeastern France.
It took place in and around and over a small French village named St Mihiel and it turned into the biggest air battle of that war.
