Charles launches its 40th anniversary season with Pangelic, featuring harpist Faye Seeman and
steelpan virtuoso Liam Teague, at 3 p.m.
The classes will include design and making of costumes, carnival street dance, stilt-walking, African drumming and
steelpan playing.
The Abertridwr YMCA girls' dance group has been enjoying high energy street dance classes ready to lead the parade to the music of St Ilans Comprehensive
steelpan drummers.
Flamboyant costumes and creations, masks and headpieces, giant puppets and huge mobile sculptures will be leaving the Butetown Youth Pavilion, Dumballs Road, at 7.30pm before making their way down James Street, Adelaide Street and into Mermaid Quay to the sound of samba,
steelpan and African street drumming.

Friday, March 23, the Northern Illinois University Steelband returns to The Norris theater in full force for an evening of
steelpan music.

Once they gain a basic understanding of groove and rhythm, they graduate to more complex melodic
steelpan drumming.
And the party to the sound of samba,
steelpan and Punjabi bands and African street drumming proved that the Welsh capital is now a leading events city.
Local
steelpan soloist, Jamma, has written an anthem especially for carnival, designed to get people dancing in the streets and in the park.
