The oxide minerals such as senarmontite, valentinite, kermesite and
stibiconite, if present, directly react with HCl without requiring FeCl3 during leaching process.
Stibiconite is a characteristic mineral of this locality and occurs as yellow or greenish, brittle pseudomorphs after stibnite in various states of decay.
Previous investigators have reported five mineral species from the Tsumeb mine with essential antimony: famatinite, stibnite,
stibiconite and nadorite (Schneider, 1992), and biehlite (Schluter et al., 2000).
In the final, exogenic phase, stibnite was oxidized, giving rise to a series of antimony oxide minerals such as valentinite and
stibiconite. Stibnite thus occurs both as massive, granular ore and in well-developed crystals.
Several supergene minerals are known from Qinglong, including carbonate-cyanotrichite and
stibiconite (Ottens, 2005).
Stibiconite occurred as a yellow-brown alteration product of stibnite from the Independence mine (Eckel, 1997).

The Smithsonian put in a case of very fine Mexican minerals including such things as
stibiconite, amethyst, buergerite, malachite pseudomorphs after azurite, danburite, rare wurtzite and polybasite.
Unfortunately, the pocket was strongly oxidized and the stibnite crystals had been partially altered to
stibiconite.
