Among the topics are the 600 MeV synchrocyclotron: laying the foundation, the intersecting
storage rings: the first hadron collider, the CERN antiproton program: imagination and audacity rewarded, the large hadron collider: the energy frontier, knowledge and technology: sharing with society, and managing the laboratory and large projects.
The budget allocated by the EU will allow for the provision through CERN (the European Organisation for Nuclear Research) of the electron
storage rings used by SESAME.
The facility will house a high-energy and high-intensity accelerator complex with several

A cable tank of 18 metres diameter has been produced with a bull ring and central cone to create two separate
storage rings for export power cables.

The calibration of light sources using
storage rings is based on the calculability of synchrotron radiation (1-4).
Researchers have usually generated such ions in particle accelerators or
storage rings, in which beams of these highly charged ions circulate a high speeds (SN: 5/1/93,p.287).
Two posibilities on the horizon are superconducting
storage rings and ion-trap "vacuum bottles." Storage devices are considered a critical "enabling tool" for antiproton research, as they would allow the antimatter produced at a source facility to be transported to academic, government, and industrial laboratories conducting the experiments.
