Malaya gained independence from Britain in a ceremony where power was handed over to first Prime Minister
Tunku Abdul Rahman.
Tunku Abdul Rahman had on this day read the Proclamation of Independence, followed by the chanting of 'Merdeka!' seven times at the newly completed Kuala Lumpur Stadium Merdeka before a crowd of 20,000 people.
Participants visited the
Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park and the Kinabalu National Park.

These will include actuaries, chartered accountants and other financial professionals for the new centre at the recently held recruitment events at Universiti
Tunku Abdul Rahman and Sunway University.
The police chief added that the roads affected are Jalan Hishamuddin (before the tunnel), Leboh Pasar, Jalan Tun Perak (from Masjid Jamek LRT station onwards), Jalan
Tunku Abdul Rahman (near Sogo), Jalan Raja Laut (near Summit Hotel) and Bulatan Dato Onn."
