PARIS: A major show of artefacts found in the tomb of Egyptian pharaoh
Tutankhamun in Paris has smashed visitor records for a French exhibition, after being extended to cope with huge crowds.
Tutankhamun ascended the throne at age nine, ruling until his death at age 18 or 19.
The 11-inch statue with features reminiscent of the Pharaoh
Tutankhamun was sold by Christie's, the auction house said on Thursday.
'I think it's our equivalent of
Tutankhamun's tomb,' Jackson said.
The Minister of Antiquities, Khaled El Anany, and the French Minister of Culture, Franck Riester, have both opened the King Tut exhibition at its second stop in Paris under the name '
Tutankhamun...Treasures of the Pharaoh.' This was in the presence of the Egyptian ambassador in Paris, Ehab Badawy, after its exhibition period ended in Los Angeles, the United States.

Experts used ground penetrating radar (GPR) which provided "conclusive evidence of the non-existence of hidden chambers adjacent to or inside
Tutankhamun's tomb," the ministry said in a statement.
Howard Carter is introduced and comparisons made between his background and
Tutankhamun's.
Then Carter's excavation group found a series of steps raising hopes that they led to
Tutankhamun's tomb (subsequently designated KV62).
