This highly individual artist has never received the attention bestowed on his more famous 'brethren' in the Nabis group, Bonnard and
Vuillard. Although Vallotton has always been admired in his native Switzerland--the majority of his works remain in Swiss museums and private collections--he has received scant recognition elsewhere.
I see the kitchens of our terrace gilded as by
Vuillard or Hodgkin, Emil Nolde, Titian.

RENOWNED French postimpressionist painter Edouard
Vuillard depicted his mother Marie more than 500 times in paint and pastel during his career.
Included in the gift, as the museum would soon learn, were a total of seventy-three works: etchings by Eugene Delacroix, Edouard Manet, and Charles Meryon; a lithograph by Edvard Munch and another by Odilon Redon; a Felix Vallotton woodcut; ten exquisite Eugene Atget photographs; and drawings or sketches by Balthus, Glen Baxter, Pierre Bonnard, George Booth, Charles Burchfield, Edward Lear, James Thurber, Bill Traylor, and Edouard
Vuillard. In addition to these, there were drawings by anonymous commercial or self-trained artists of various eras and styles.
By highlighting certain interrelated actions and individuals, Eric
Vuillard provides a fresh, multifaceted reexamination of a seemingly well-known moment of twentieth-century history.
Artworks of Edgar Degas, Eduard
Vuillard, Berthe Morisot, Vincent Van Gogh, and Edouard Manet were chosen by 13, 10, 3, 3, and 1 participants, respectively.
There are philosophical insights into the complexity of life, and people gain a deeper understanding of each person in the family, the dynamics of the
Vuillard family, and how they deal with adversity.
