WRVS in Wales, said: "Older people in Wales shouldn't be confined to their own homes simply because they can't access transport.
The
WRVS research showed that for ten per cent of parents over 75, their nearest child lives more than an hours drive away.
David McCullough, chief executive of
WRVS, said: "Many children have no choice but to move away from their older parents because of work or family reasons and really regret the fact that they aren't close enough for more regular visits to alleviate their parent's loneliness."

WRVS does is absolutely wonderful.
Margaret began volunteering in 1939 as a civil defence helper with the Women's Voluntary Services - the predecessor of the
WRVS.
We would really like to encourage such people to take a step towards
WRVS to find out more about volunteering opportunities in their area.
