Wood leopard

(Zool.) a European spotted moth (Zeuzera æsculi) allied to the goat moth. Its large fleshy larva bores in the wood of the apple, pear, and other fruit trees.

Ruby Walsh, guaranteed a first jump jockeys' title since Paul Carberry's season was ended by injury last month, reached 95 wins when producing Wood Leopard, trained by Edward O'Grady for Jane Myerscough, with a strong late run to catch and beat Carina Bay by a length and a half in the two-mile maiden hurdle.
Formerly trained by Charles O'Brien, Wood Leopard has caught my eye twice recently, running with promise for Edward O'Grady in maiden hurdles at both Fairyhouse and Punchestown.
