Rigid cyst formation is an architectural pattern also frequently seen in
adenosarcoma. Large cystic spaces lined by benign epithelium are surrounded by low-grade malignant stroma (hematoxylin-eosin; original magnification X200).
In differential diagnosis, mullerian
adenosarcoma should be considered.
A graver potential pitfall in the differential diagnosis is an extension of a Mullerian
adenosarcoma of the cervix into the vulva.
These include Adenomyoma, Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, Leiomyoma, and even lesions like Schwannoma, Nabothian cyst, Decidualized stroma, Plasmacytoma, Villoglandular papillary adenocarcinoma,
Adenosarcoma, Non-hodgkin's lymphoma, Aggressive angiomyxoma, Gliosis of cervix etc.
(11,20-25) Other conditions that may enter into the differential diagnostic consideration less frequently are
adenosarcoma, carcinosarcoma, perivascular epithelioid cell tumor, and adenomatoid tumor.
Clement, MD, he described the uterine Mullerian
adenosarcoma and later published the largest study of the subject.
(46,47) The main differential diagnosis is mullerian
adenosarcoma, which characteristically shows leaflike glandular architecture, periglandular stromal hypercellularity, and atypical stromal cells, features absent in polypoid endometriosis.
They include
adenosarcoma, carcinosarcoma, malignant mixed mullerian tumor, pulmonary blastomas, and biphasic mesotheliomas.
Metanephric
adenosarcoma in a young adult: morphologic, immunophenotypic, ultrastructural, and fluorescence in situ hybridization analyses: a case report and review of the literature.
Mullerian
adenosarcoma of the cervix that secondarily involves the vulva may imitate a PT due to the formation of polypoid mass, a similar leaf-like architecture, and biphasic pattern.
Laparoscopic management of 15 patients with infiltrating endometriosis of the bladder and a case of primary intravesical endometrioid
adenosarcoma. Fertil Steril.
Mullerian
adenosarcoma (MA) of ovary with sarcomatous (rhabdomyoblastic) overgrowth is an extremely rare malignant type of female genital tract neoplasm.
