suzukii adults and larvae surviving exposure to ethanol after 24 h were collected and assayed for the activity of ADH and ALDH using
Alcohol Dehydrogenase Activity Assay and Aldehyde Dehydrogenase Activity Colorimetric Assay Kits (Sigma-Aldrich, Munich, Germany).
Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH, EC 1.1.1.1) catalyzes the reversible oxidation of a wide variety of primary, secondary and cyclic alcohols to their corresponding aldehydes and ketones.
Isozyme analysis: In this study, polymorphism among parental lines of two F1 hybrids Shaktiman-1 [(CML 142 x CML 150) x CML186] and Shaktiman-2 (CML 176 x CML186) with respect to the esterase (EST),
alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), malate dehydrogenase (MDH) and acid phosphatase (ACP) was analyzed.
Excessive vitamin A toxicity in mice genetically deficient in either
alcohol dehydrogenase Adh1 or Adh3.
Abbreviations ADH:
Alcohol dehydrogenase Cr: Creatinine HD: Hemodialysis CHDF: Continuous hemodiafiltration ICU: Intensive care unit.
When ingested, both methanol and ethylene glycol undergo an initial biochemical reaction catalyzed by
alcohol dehydrogenase (the same enzyme metabolizing ethanol), which converts the parent alcohol into formaldehyde and glycolaldehyde, respectively.
The main ethanol biotransformation reaction is catalysed by
alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and is performed in the cytoplasm, where this enzyme oxidises the ethanol producing acetaldehyde, which in turn is oxidized by the enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) to acetate.
(7) Metronidazole did not have any inhibitory effect on hepatic or colonic
alcohol dehydrogenase or aldehyde dehydrogenase.
