The synthesis of all these hybrid derivatives 5a-l was performed in polar
aprotic medium of DMF (N,N-dimethylformamide) using lithium hydride (LiH) as a base.
Propylene Carbonate is a propylene glycol derived from carbonate ester, known as a VOC-exempt solvent
aprotic and polar solvent.
Wherein, two graphite rods as electrodes (anode and cathode) were connected with a copper wire to the DC voltage power supply and were inserted in an electrolytic cell containing an electrolyte solution made of acetonirile in deionized water (acetonitrile is an
aprotic organic solvents used in electrochemistry).
All the synthesized polyurethanes were soluble in many of the common
aprotic solvents, such as cyclohexanone, DMF, DMAc, DMSO, and NMP, indicating that polyurethanes offer good processability and thus, optical quality thin films could be easily prepared from their solutions.
DMSO is a clean, safe, highly polar, and
aprotic solvent that helps in bringing out the pure properties of all the components of the herb being dissolved.
Cao et al., "Selective conversion of cellulose to hydroxymethylfurfural in polar
aprotic solvents," ChemCatChem, vol.
Acetone and dimethyl carbonate were used as solvents because bixin was highly soluble in both these
aprotic solvents.
This work is focused on spectral changes of phenol, 2-chlorophenol (2CPH), 2-aminophenol (2APH), and 2-nitrophenol (2NPH) in polar protic and
aprotic solvents.
Binding is more significant in 1,4-dioxane than DMSO and DMF which is due to
aprotic and nonpolar nature of 1,4-dioxane.
