With the building work scheduled to start on the Isle of Sheppey in early October, their
arboriculture team were asked to lend a hand during the early part of September to undertake a survey of all trees on and adjacent to the site free of charge and provide them with a tree survey plan and survey schedules before construction commenced.
It offers full-time and part-time courses, degrees and apprenticeships in agriculture, animal welfare,
arboriculture, construction, countryside management, equine, farriery, floristry and veterinary nursing.
While recent years have seen an explosion in the tourism industry through diversification in the rural areas of Northumberland, an ageing workforce and major developments in technology means there is also still high demand for skilled labour in farming, animal care, horticulture, agriculture and
arboriculture.

All of those who applied have been offered permanent employment within the
arboriculture department.
Those wishing to work in specialist areas, such as utility
arboriculture, will also need to undertake training specific to the work area, for example working close to live electrical cables.
