The College of Southern Idaho's quest to become the first Idaho community college to offer a bachelor's degree program received approval June 21 from the Idaho State Board of Education. The board approved the CSI proposal to offer a bachelor's of applied science in advanced food technology. CSI still needs the approval of its accrediting body, the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. "That could be a lengthy process," CSI spokeswoman Kimberlee LaPray said. Officials hope to start offering the advanced food technology bachelor's degrees in fall 2019, she said. CSI also wants to offer a bachelor's degree program in teacher education but the state board postponed a decision on that until August.
