WEDNESDAY, July 31, 2019 (HealthDay News) -- Moving to a new home in the first trimester of pregnancy is associated with an increased risk for low
birth weight and preterm birth, according to a study published online July 30 in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.
'If trends continue, the world will not achieve the 2025 WHA [World Health Assembly] low
birth weight target-and this lack of progress will impede the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals,' it added.
As part of the study, the researchers looked at genetic information from 230,069 mothers, with the
birth weight of one child each, in addition to genetic information and
birth weights of 321,223 people across the UK Biobank and the Early Growth Genetics consortium cohorts.
The weight of the calves recorded within twenty four hours after birth was taken as
birth weight. The weaning weight, yearling weight and 18 month weight of the crossbreed animals were adjusted for age of calves in days as per (Lasely, 1987).
Some reports in the literature show higher
birth weight and length in CAH newborns.
The anthropometric characters of the expectant mother like the pre-pregnancy weight and height can be an important factor influencing the
birth weight. However, it is not very clear whether the weight gain during pregnancy has any impact on the outcome of pregnancy.
This study aimed to check the difference between the estimated foetal
birth weight on ultrasound during pregnancy and the actual weight at delivery and secondly to see whether ultrasonography underestimate or overestimate the weight of the baby.
All alive, singleton, low
birth weight (LBW) neonates delivered in this hospital over this period were included in study.
Low
birth weight (LBW) was defined as less than 2500 grams (~88 ounces) and a gestational age of 37 weeks.

Women who previously had a child, are educated, and had higher wealth were less likely to deliver a low
birth weight baby [9,10].
