In results published in the Journal of Arid Environments, Lucero and her colleagues found that 1 liter of hydrogel-bound water was sufficient to support black grama grass (Bouteloua eriopoda) transplants through reproductive maturity.
The major perennial grass to respond to grazing was black grama Bouteloua eriopoda which decreased significantly from 31.4 [+ or -] 8.5 % in the ungrazed grasslands to 8.2 [+ or -] 5.7 % in the grazed grasslands (Student's-t = 2.35, df = 4, P [less than] 0.05).
The more densely vegetated sandy loam site supported scattered longleaf yucca (Yucca elata), Mormon tea (Ephedra trifurca), black grama (Bouteloua eriopoda), sand dropseed (Sporobolus cryptandrus) and blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis).
