Grass pickerel Esox americanus vermiculatus (Crossman, 1966) is the smallest member of the family Esocidae which includes muskellunge Esox masquinongy, northern pike Esox lucius,
chain pickerel Esox niger and redfin pickerel Esox americanus americanus (Crossman, 1966).
