* Certain medications used to treat high blood pressure, including calcium channel blockers such as diltiazem (Cardizem[R]) and nifedipine (Procardia[R]), and diuretics--examples include
chlorothiazide, furosemide (Lasix[R]) and hydrochlorothiazide (Microzide[R]).
Thiazide diuretics (eg bendrofluazide, hydrochlorothiazide and
chlorothiazide) and non-thiazides with the same pharmacological actions (eg chlorthalidone and indapamide) block the action of the [Na.sup.+]/ [Cl.sup.-] co-transporter in the distal tubules (Figure 3, E).
The acute effects of furosemide, ethacrynic acid and
chlorothiazide on the renal tubular handling of uric acid in the chicken.
In the newborn period a thiazide diuretic (such as
chlorothiazide 7-10 mg/kg/day in two divided doses), is usually administered with diazoxide to prevent fluid retention.
If there's no secondary cause that can be addressed, "the first thing to do is check the diuretic, and substitute in a long-acting, thiazide-like diuretic, either chlorthalidone or indapamide." They lower blood pressure more effectively than do the thiazide diuretics, such as
chlorothiazide and hydrochlorothiazide.
* Thiazide diuretics, such as
chlorothiazide (Diuril) and hydrochlorothiazide (Microzide)
Examples include
chlorothiazide (Diuril[R]), furosemide (Lasix[R]), and spironolactone (Aldactone[R]).
There have been a few case reports of managing central DI in early infancy using low renal solute load formula and
chlorothiazide [14-16].
Thiazide diuretics, such as chlorthalidone (Thalitone[R]) and
chlorothiazide (Diuril[R]), are not recommended if semm creatinine is higher than 2.5 mg/dL or creatinine clearance is lower than 30 mL/min.
Other antineoplastic drugs that are known to induce pancreatitis are corticosteroids, 6- mercaptopurine, cytarabine, cisplatin, vincristine, methotrexate, mitomycin C, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and ifosfamide [37].It is also a complication of other supportive medications such as anti-microbial agents (erythromycin, clarithromycin, and isoniazid), diuretics (furosemide,
chlorothiazide, and hydrochlorothiazide), H2 blockers (cimetidine, ranitidine), proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole), cardiac agents (captopril, enalapril, losartan) [38].
Sagent Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: SGNT), a company that provides a portfolio of injectable products, has introduced
Chlorothiazide Sodium for Injection, USP, a diuretic/antihypertensive agent, in a 500 mg preservative-free, single-dose vial, it was reported yesterday.
