Although these methods sidestep the use of a
coulometer or a constant current source, they had practical constraints for routine analytical purposes due to the involvement of large-size precious metal electrodes or a rotating electrode placed in a special type of electrochemical cell.
In order to measure the different physical and chemical properties of the raw material stock and the final biodiesel product, a Herzog HVM 472 viscometer for the viscosity measurement and a 684 KF
coulometer Metrohm for water content measurement were used.
For each discrete water sample, TDIC was measured using a 5011 C[0.sub.2]
coulometer (UIC Inc.); TA was measured by open-cell potentiometric titration; and salinity was measured with a Guildline Autosal salinometer.
The coulombs were read on
coulometer of the rectifier, and recorded.
Together with their recently introduced microwave resonance technology and their well-known moisture analyser series with IR dryers as well as a
coulometer for the selective detection of water in the low ppm range, Sartorius now covers the entire spectrum of typical moisture analysis applications, from incoming inspection to production monitoring to laboratory QA and R&D.
Samples for organic carbon measurements were freeze dried, milled to smaller than 500 [micro]m and analyzed on a UIC Coulometrics CM5012 C02
Coulometer. Magnetic susceptibility data for the 1993 box cores were collected on board on the whole core (volume MS) and converted to mass MS with the bulk density; mass MS data from the 1996 box cores were collected on discrete samples.
The Metrohm Oven Sample Processor Model 774 handles any level of moisture by connecting to the Metrohm KF
Coulometer Model 756 for low level moisture analysis, or to a Karl Fisher Titrino for high levels up to 100%.
