diabetologist trained in UK, said for people with diabetes, their doctors should be their imams and if their physician told them not to fast during Ramazan as it would harm their health, they should listen to the experts instead of their religious leaders.

Dr Thashli Thankachen, specialist - Internal Medicine, physician and
diabetologist, Al Raffah Polyclinic, Ruwi, said, 'Since the beginning of the week, I've seen two to three patients a day suffering with allergies.
"Our team of 3 specialists- cardiologist,
diabetologist and nephrologist, was checking them (protesting Ministers) morning and evening.
Pakistani
diabetologist and Honarary IDF President Prof Samad Shera said diabetes prevalence, which was only 11% in Pakistan in 1994, had increased to 26% in 2017 while the number of prediabetics had also increased tremendously.
The study, conducted by the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Abu Dhabi (ICLDC), essentially emphasises the need for self-control even as people get into the routine of fasting during Ramadan, a period when people tend to reduce both sleep and activity levels, said Dr Nader Lessan, lead author of the study and consultant endocrinologist and
diabetologist at the ICLDC.
