Intersect ENT announced that the company has received approval from the FDA for a new Straight Delivery System for use to place its PROPEL Mini steroid releasing sinus implant in the
ethmoid sinus. PROPEL Mini helps maintain the sinus opening while delivering mometasone furoate directly where it is needed, improving outcomes of frontal (behind the forehead) and
ethmoid sinus surgery.
Mucosal thickening was the most common abnormality (37.1%), and the maxillary sinus was the most commonly affected sinus (37.7%), followed by the anterior
ethmoid sinus (18.5%).
Cancers were located in the
ethmoid sinus (n = 3), nasal cavity (n = 2), sphenoid sinus (n = 2), and maxillary sinus (n = 1); in our series....
Tumours were present in nasal cavity (n=4),
ethmoid sinus (n=3) and maxillary sinus (n=1).
Among the PNS most commonly involved was maxillary sinus (35 [70%]) followed by
ethmoid sinus (20 [40%]), sphenoid sinus (17 [34%]), and frontal sinus (12 [24%]).
Their etiology is unknown, and they most commonly involve the frontal and
ethmoid sinus. We present an exceedingly rare localization of osteoma within the cavity of a concha bullosa of the middle turbinate in a 38-year-old woman with frontal headaches and right-sided facial pain.
(3) reported that mucoceles arose most frequently from the
ethmoid sinus in their paranasal sinus mucocele case series, which was composed of 10 pediatric patients.
[2] The remaining 10-20% are intestinal-type adenocarcinoma, which mostly occur in the
ethmoid sinus. [2] There have been fewer than 500 reported cases of primary squamous cell carcinoma of the
ethmoid sinus in the English literature.
(16) nasal fossae and maxillary, occurring less in the
ethmoid sinus.
Development of the
ethmoid sinus and extramural migration: the anatomical basis of this paranasal sinus.
It markets two steroid releasing implants, PROPEL and PROPEL mini, clinically proven to improve surgical outcomes for patients with chronic sinusitis undergoing
ethmoid sinus surgery.
The most common sites of origin for primary mucoceles were the
ethmoid sinus (31.5%) and sphenoid sinus (31.5%).
