Cineole (
eucalyptol) is known to be one of the most attractive scents and an attractant of many species (e.g., Storck-Tonon et al., 2011; Cordeiro et al., 2013; Rocha-Filho and Garofalo, 2014).
Chemical solvents such as
eucalyptol, orange oil, and chloroform are used during root canal retreatment to solubilize gutta-percha without damaging the tooth tissue (1).
Effect of camphor,
eucalyptol and menthol on the vascular state of the mucous membrane.
The widely used flavours in e-cigarettes are - menthol (mint), acetylpyridine (burnt flavour), vanillin (vanilla), cinnamaldehyde (cinnamon), eugenol (clove), diacetyl (butter), dimethylpyrazine (strawberry), isoamyl acetate (banana) and
eucalyptol (spicy cooling).
Eucalyptol, a monoterpene ether, was the only terpenoid detected from L latisiliquum, and in low quantity.
The main compounds reported in the LsidEO (rosemary pepper) were caryophyllene (30.2%), p-cymene (28.7%), y-terpinene (9.8%),
eucalyptol (7.5%), and thymol (6.3%).
These phytochemicals included secondary metabolites such as limonene, thymol, eugenol, pulegone, and
eucalyptol. All these bioactive compounds have antioxidant activity and could protect the cells against oxidative stress.
Smell training consisted of twice-daily exposure to four intense odors (phenylethyl alcohol,
eucalyptol, citronellal, and eugenol).
Peak (3) was annotated as
eucalyptol (also known as 1,8-cineole) following confirmation on three libraries (NIST, Wiley, and Fragrances) all interfaced with the GCMS Solution software.
The result revealed that the major essential oils from turmeric rhizomes are
Eucalyptol (76.46%), [alpha]-Terpinene (4.41%), [gamma]-Terpinene (3.32%), p-Cymene (1.31%), and [alpha]-Terpineol (0.62%) while [alpha]- Zingiberene (17.43%), [beta]-Sesquiphellandrene (3.10%),
Eucalyptol (2.75%), Furfaral (1.76%), [alpha]-Terpineol (1.35%), endo-Borneol (1.31%), Limonene (1.21%), Thunbergol (0.84%), Citral (0.56%), Oxirane (0.45%), Caryophyllene oxide (0.42%), Nerolidol (0.31%), exo-Norborneol (0.27%), cis-Verbenol (0.12%), Linaloloxide (0.06%), and Squalene (0.02%) are the major essential oil compounds detected in ginger rhizomes.
Alzogaray, "Lethal and sublethal effects of
eucalyptol on Triatoma infestans and Rhodnius prolixus, vectors of Chagas disease," Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, vol.
A total of seven oil components namely; o-cymene, d-limonene, (R)-(+)-citronellal, n-heneicosane, eugenol methyl ether, p-menth-1-en-8-ol and
eucalyptol were extracted and quantified.
