The patient's visual acuity was intact, and he did not have
exophthalmos.
Orbital cellulitis is a septic process between the ethmoid and orbitary tissue representing the most frequent cause of unilateral
exophthalmos. (3,4) Clinically orbital cellulitis begins with progressive pain at the level of lacrimal bone followed by reddening of skin and subsequent progressive oedema of eyelids.
[sup][2],[14],[15],[16] The 17 SCA3/MJD patients in our study displayed amplification in this range of repeats, with genetic characteristics as follows: (1) Delayed dominance: All patients exhibited adult-onset at 31-65 years of age; (2) clinical variability: SCA3/MJD-specific symptoms, such as
exophthalmos caused by eyelid retraction, were not observed in our patients; and (3) genetic anticipation: The age of onset in generations I, II and III of Family D was 70, 59 and 44 years, respectively, and genetic anticipation was also observed in other families; and (4) disease duration was positively correlated with ICARS scores, whereas the CAG pathological repeat number of abnormal alleles was negatively correlated with age of onset.
A rupture of such an aneurysm results in a cavernous sinus fistula, which forces arterial blood back down the venous drainage system of the eye causing conjunctival congestion and chemosis and sometimes pulsatile
exophthalmos.
Abstract: Squamous cell carcinoma of the infraorbital sinus was diagnosed in a 5-year-old Solomon Island eclectus parrot (Eclectus roratus solomonensis) that presented with
exophthalmos of the right globe and an ulcerative mass of 2-months duration at the right commissure of the beak.
Special examination revealed bilateral massive
exophthalmos, patient has a refractive error (Myopia).
Relationship of
exophthalmos and interupillary distance with myopia among young females.
Hirschberg test to rule out squint, position of eyeball to assess proptosis,
exophthalmos, microphthalmia, phthisis, etc.
The head and neck examination were normal, no
exophthalmos. Cardiac auscultation was within normal limits except for the tachycardia.
On examination, he was emaciated, had resting tachycardia, fine tremors and
exophthalmos (Figure 1).
CASE: 6 yrs old twin brothers presented to us with multiple, painful swellings over the scalp .On examination 1 child was severely affected with multiple painful swellings over scalp,
exophthalmos, loose teeth, polyuria and polydypsia.
Craniosynostosis (2,9) with short and broad head,
Exophthalmos, hypertelorism (greater than normal distance between eyes), Psittichorhina (beak like nose), Hypoplastic maxilla (insufficient growth of mid face) result in prognathism (chin appears to protrude despite normal growth of mandible).
