The company's randomised, observer-blind, placebo-controlled and dose-ranging study has been framed to evaluate the safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of mRNA-1893 in healthy
flavivirus seropositive and seronegative adults aged between 18 and 49 years.
Zika virus belongs to the Flaviviridae family, genus
Flavivirus, and is an arbovirus transmitted mainly by mosquitoes of the genus Aedes (Stegomyia).
Zika virus (ZIKV) belongs to
flavivirus family which was first isolated from a sentinel rhesus monkey in the Zika Forest, Uganda in 1947 (1).
UT Southwestern researchers report the use of CRISPR genome-wide screening to identify a gene that helps cells resist
flavivirus infection, including West Nile virus, dengue fever, Zika virus, and yellow fever.
The disease is caused by
flavivirus and affects approximately 68,000 people annually in Asia.Astonishingly there is no permanent cure to the fetal disease and about 20-30% of patient usually dies within a short span of time from the onset of disease.
ZIKV is a positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus that belongs to the Flaviviridae family,
Flavivirus genus, and is transmitted primarily by Aedes mosquitos (1).
Dengue fever is a viral disease caused by positive sense single stranded ribonucleic acid (RNA) virus belonging to family Flaviviridae, genus
Flavivirus. The disease is transmitted by aedes mosquito known as aedes aegypti and aedes albopictus.1,2 In Pakistan the first case of dengue fever was reported from Karachi in 1994.3 From 1994 to 2014 there were many outbreaks of dengue fever in Pakistan.3-10 The first outbreak occurred in Swat district during August 2013, that infected more than 7,000 people, among them 29 deaths were reported including 3 of medical doctors.3 Dengue cases were also reported from the adjacent district of Swat, District Dir(Lower), and Malakand Agency.11 A lesson need to be learned from these outbreaks for the prevention of the disease.
Flaviviridae is composed of four genera:
Flavivirus, Pestivirus, Pegvirus, and Hepacivirus [3], and causes several diseases and mortality in humans and animals.
