The ABLTS links directly with the
inland petroleum distribution system, a pre-positioned stocks asset available for use in support of operations in the ROK.
The exercise, which entailed constructing and operating an
inland petroleum distribution system (IPDS), began on 19 April and is scheduled to run through 28 September.
The Army provides logistics support vessels, landing craft, lighterage, causeway construction companies, ship offloading personnel, deprocessing and staging companies, surface movement control teams and coordinators, long-haul transportation assets (either organic or contracted), and the
Inland Petroleum Distribution System (IPDS).
The Army's
Inland Petroleum Distribution System (IPDS) was essential in supplying fuel to air and ground forces in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
This joint feature of the operation involved the Marine Corps assault bulk system, Navy amphibious assault bulk fuel system, and Army
inland petroleum distribution system.
The exercise validated bulk fuel system interoperability of the offshore petroleum discharge system, the marine amphibious assault fuel system, and the
inland petroleum distribution system.
