potential unit - a measure of the potential energy of a unit charge at a given point in a circuit relative to a reference point (ground)
V, volt - a unit of potential equal to the potential difference between two points on a conductor carrying a current of 1 ampere when the power dissipated between the two points is 1 watt; equivalent to the potential difference across a resistance of 1 ohm when 1 ampere of current flows through it
Hydro One Inc, Ontario's largest electricity transmission and distribution company, is expanding the greenhouse industry in southwestern Ontario through the development and construction of a new 230 kilovolt transmission line from Chatham to Leamington.
Under the agreement, GE will undertake the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of a 132/6.3 kilovolt (kV) grid station, which is expected to be complete in early 2019.
Contracting was completed for cables with 66 kilovolt capacities to expand the grid by 57km and replace connectors with capacities of 330 kilovolt, in addition to expanding through the establishment of 30 cells to be installed in the transmitters.
The second contract, which is for construction of a transformer station to the south of Dhahran in Eastern Region, with capacity of 115/380 kilovolt, has been signed with Saudi Electro-Mechanical Services Co.
Company president Mike Metatawabin recalled the idea as "far-fetched" when he first heard Chief Ignace Gull make the motion to carry out a project that would bring 115 kilovolt (kV) transmissions lines through 270 kilometres of muskeg.
