Lesser Scaup, only the second ever seen in North Wales, remained on Anglesey's Llyn Llygeirian to the year-end.
Entries must depict a live portrayal of one or more of the following five waterfowl species: wood duck, American wigeon, Northern pintail, green-winged teal, and
lesser scaup. Artists are also required to portray this year's theme of "Celebrating Our Waterfowl Hunting Heritage," and/or include a hunting-related accessory.

During the first winter period, PC2001 had a significantly higher percent composition of Bufflehead (PC2001 = 10.92%, PC2013 = 0.0%, [G.sub.1] = 15.1, P < 0.001), Gadwall (PC2001 = 10.52%, PC2013 = 0.0%, v = 14.6, P < 0.001),
Lesser Scaup (PC2001 = 10.41%, PC2013 = 0.0%, [G.sub.1] = 14.4, P < 0.001), and Ring-Necked Duck (PC2001 = 17.90%, PC2013 = 0.0%, [G.sub.1] = 24.8, P < 0.001), while PC2013 had a greater percent composition of Lophodytes cucullatus L.
Stretches of the Indian River towards Wabasso, Sebastian and Vero Beach hold
lesser scaup (bluebills) and other divers.
My bag consisted of five
lesser scaup, a bufflehead and two Barrow's goldeneyes.
Some species, such as Bufflehead (Bucephala albeola), Common Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula),
Lesser Scaup (Athya affinis), and Ruddy Duck (Oxyura jamaicensis) have diets that are almost exclusively macroinvertebrates throughout their entire lives (Hoppe and others 1986; Bendell and McNicol 1995; Thompson and Ankney 2002), while others like American Widgeon (Anas americana) consume mostly vegetation during adulthood (Wishart 1983; Knapton and Pauls 1994).
The reservoir is especially important for wintering ring-necked ducks, canvas-backs, and
lesser scaup (Aythya affinis).
So far this year, twitchers have been lucky enough to see a North American
lesser scaup duck in Cardiff Bay.
They observed 84 species on count day and four additional species -
lesser scaup, peregrine falcon, fish crow and common yellowthroat - during count week.
