The Newport AA Spring Series ended with two good matches, the first at Woodstock Pond where Team Aiwa-Shima boss Glyn Reynolds just made it to first place with 41lb 11oz of carp on
luncheon meat and paste baits.
So Andy Ball's 12lb 6oz sturgeon (pictured) caught in Shatterford Lakes, near Kidderminster, on a visit with his dad, is a lightweight that fell for
luncheon meat bait.
The fish were not as active as normal following torrential rain during the week (which lowers the water temperature) and Davies fished carefully with small pieces of
luncheon meat in the margins on an 11 metre pole.
But it's not far from how we felt after we took a stroll down the
