The aim of the Gates Foundation project is to evaluate whether key crop pests such as desert locusts and fall armyworm can be detected and predicted using
meteorological radar to aid in pest management.
This estimate was made possible by a geospatial benefit model developed as part of a broader program to evaluate the viability of advanced technologies in replacing today's
meteorological radar networks.
